In 1979 when we decided, together with a group of friends, to leave the urban lifestyle of San Sebastian to try the rural lifestyle of a traditional Basque farm, the only clear idea what we had was that we wanted another kind of life and it had to be in the sphere of organic farming. The experience did not turn out so well and after three years we decided to separate. However we continued with our idea and spent a couple of years gaining more experience in matters related to organic agriculture and so in 1984 we bought the farm Naera Haundi in Abaltzisketa, where, to this day, we live and work.

At that time we realised that making a living from farming would involve more than the arable or dairy / beef kind of farm. It would have to be a more traditional kind where one thing complements another in a more natural and balanced way than is the norm these days. After several different experiences, today we work mostly in the area of organic fruit production and its processing into organic jams, jellies and marmalades. In addition to this we rent out two holiday apartments under the Agroturismo scheme to summer and weekend visitors.
